Kumta's Naazim Khan, a shining example of sportsman spirit

Kumta: A 23-Year-Old young sportsman of the Coastal town Kumta, Naazim Khan is now a raising sportsman and a shining example of sportsman spirit for the youths in the town, by his participation and achievements in the International level Para table tennis games.

Naazim, a resident of Honmav region in the town, is a physically challenged youth with his left lower limb, who have stamped all his drawbacks and stood up for the sports.

Although Naazim has achieved many awards and medals from National and International Para table tennis games recently, he is willing to secure more success in the future with his efforts.

Second out of the four siblings, Naazim is a son of Javed Ismail Khan and Fouziya Khan and is pursuing final year MBBS education at Karnataka Institute of Medical Science (KIMS) at Hubballi.

During the days of his Pre-University (PU) education at Dr. A V Baliga college in Kumta in the year 2012, he began his training from Devanand Gaonkar, who is among the best table tennis trainers in the town. Naazim later had to join Maharastra Mandal Table Tennis Academy in Hubballi, as he got his admission done at KIMS college in Hubballi. Umesh, Dhanraj, Abhishek, Vijay Pai and Vaddin were among the top trainers for him in MMTTA Hubballi.

Speaking to SahilOnline, Naazim explained about his daily practices. He said that every day he needs at least two hours of mandatory practice, and to accompany him for the game as an opponent, the sports committee president of college Rajashekar Dundareddy plays with him. He believes that Guidance and Co-operation from everybody will help him to gain even more heights of success.

Not only in sports, Naazim is also listed among the toppers in his batch. He has achieved 92% in SSLC, while 93% in 2nd PUC (PCMB) with 99% being in PCM.

Achievements of Naazim:
In the year 2012, 2017 and June 2018, he participated at International Para Table Tennis championship at Bangkok, Beijing, and Barcelona respectively.  

In 2012, he won the gold medal at National table tennis tourney at Bengaluru, while in 2016  secured Bronze medal at Bengaluru & in March 2018, he secured bronze medal at National level games at Indore in Madhya Pradesh.

Recently on 5th August, Sunday, Naazim Khan was felicitated by Uttar Kannada District Sports Foundation in Haliyal for his various achievements at national and international levels.
