Kumta businessman injured in hit-and-run accident on highway

Kumta: A well-known businessman of the town,  Al-Rafiq Shaikh was injured seriously in a hit-and-run accident that happened on Divgi NH-66 in the outskirts of the town on Wednesday evening.

It is said that that the mishap took place when the victim along with his wife was returning from his native village Mirzan to Kumta. He had been to Mirzan on the occasion of Eid to share greetings with his family members. Sadly, while returning, he witnessed a road accident which caused him to sustain severe head injuries. 

As the news of his accident made rounds on social media, hundreds of people rushed to the spot and shifted him to a private hospital in the town for first aid. He was then taken to Adarsh hospital in Udupi for advanced treatment. His wife, who was riding pillon, escaped with minor injuries.

The family members of the victim has appealed the readers to remember victim Al-Rafiq in their supplications for his speedy recovery.
