Kodagu: Heavy rainfall and flooding in Kodagu district of Karnataka has put a halt to a buzzing tourist spot like Abbey Falls.

The area is shut after warnings of increased chances of flooding and landslides. The tourist spot is visited by over thousand tourists on a normal day, owing to the natural beauty of the scenic landscape.

Roads leading to Abbey Falls are either blocked due to landslide or felling of trees leading to restricted access to the region. Even though restoration work is in full swing people are avoiding a calamity prone area during these sensitive times. This has affected the tourism industry in Kodagu, especially near Abbey Falls.

It is believed that it will be months before normality can be restored in the district and operations to resume like earlier.
