Raid conducted on fishermen by IT Department officials in Udupi

Udupi: A series of raids were conducted by the Income tax department officers at the houses of owners of fishing boats here, from 8th February, Thursday till Friday evening.

The raid began early morning on Thursday based upon certain allegations that money had been laundered by some politicians through the fishing industry.

The IT team arrived from Delhi and the sleuths searched the premises of various fishermen and boat owners including Anand Kunder, Hariyappa Kotian, Sadhu Salian and Anand Suvarna.

However, it is still not disclosed whether the team found any incriminating evidence or not.
