Goonda Act against those who misuse social media: DyCM Parameshwar in Honnavar

Honnavar: Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara said steps have been taken to use Goonda Act against those spreading rumours through social media.

Briefing reporters, after participating in religious rituals, at Idagunji, in Honnavar taluk, on Friday, he said social media like WhatsApp and Facebook have instigated communal clashes in the coastal region in the past. To check such developments, police have been directed to take action against such miscreants through Goonda Act.

He said Congress and JD(S) will jointly face the coming Lok Sabha elections.

On promotion of SC/ST employees, he said the State government was awaiting the Supreme Court order. The government was committed to protect the interest of the employees but it has to respect the court also.
