Bhatkal: The members of Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation demanded strict probe into the gang involving the supply of Ganja in the town after they found a scooter with 'Ganja' stocked in its boot. They informed police and demanded to arrest the Ganja suppliers including the injured youth.

The incident happened in the late night on Saturday near Quality hotel on NH-66.

It is said that a lorry knocked down the scooter in which the scooter rider laid on the road with a head injury. Local people immediately rushed to rescue the rider, during which few of rescuers noticed that the injured is inebriated. They alerted president of Bhatkal Muslim youth federation Imtiyaz Udyawar, who along with the general secretary of Federation Naseef Khaleefa amongst many other members rushed to the spot and checked the scooter in which they found the bag of ganja with 125 gms of weight.

As the information was alerted, general secretary of Majlise Islah Wa Tanzeem Altaf Kharuri too rushed to the spot.

Police personnel who arrived at the spot took the scooter to the town police station. Members were anguished that the higher police officials failed to reach the station even after a long wait.

On the other side, the injured who was identified as Imran Shaikh (35) was first taken to Bhatkal Govt hospital, later he was shifted to Kundapur hospital. But now it is said that he escaped and it is not known whether he was taken treatment at Kundapur or not.

Members of Federation and Tanzeem has asked the police to launch a strict probe into the whole network involved in Ganja supply. Members of Federation feel that police are least bothered to burst the ganja network, as federation members have many times given clue and even raided few houses with police a few months back.
