Fire erupts at a shop in Sirsi; loss estimated over 5 lakhs

Sirsi: Cushion materials valuing over 5 lakh rupees were reduced to ashes as the fire broke out in a cushion making shop located at Kumta road in Nilekani of Sirsi on Sunday, February 11 at around 10 pm in the night.

According to the sources, the shop belonging to Timappa R was shut later in the evening after finishing the duty. Few minutes later, alerted by the fume smell, Timappa opened the shutter once again, where he found a huge blaze of fire burning inside. The fire slowly spread in such a way that the shop was completely destroyed and the materials were turned to ash. The blow of fire was such that the fire brigade personnel too faced difficulties in extinguishing it immediately. The short circuit is the reason suspected for this incident.

As the information was received, ASP Nagesh, CPI Girish, PSI Madhav and others rushed to the spot.

The loss of over 5 lakh rupees has been estimated in the incident. The shop is located on Sirsi-Kumta road.
