File criminal case against Premalatha, six others: Court

Karwar: Honnavar court on Friday ordered to file criminal case against seven persons, including Premalatha, for blackmailing Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati swami of Ramachandrapur Mutt. It also issued summons to all seven asking them to appear before the court during the next hearing. The JMFC Court in Honnavar had rejected the ‘B’ report submitted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in a blackmail case filed by Premalatha on January 29. On Friday, the court ordered to file criminal case against Premalatha, her husband Divakar Shashtri, C M Krishna Shashtri, C M N Shashtri, Gangadhar Shashtri, engineer B T Venkatesh and B Padmanabha Sharma under sections 120(B), 384, 389, 504, 506, 511 r/w 34 of the Indian Pinal Code (IPC) . The court had rejected a charge-sheet filed by the CID against the seer in a rape case last month. It had given a judgement saying the seer was innocent. Two rape cases were filed against the seer and in both the cases the alleged victims were the devotees of the mutt.
