Fake image of ghost creates panic in Kumta

Kumta: Residents of Alvedande village created a wave of fear after a photoshopped image of a  'ghost' went viral in local WhatsApp groups since a week ago. The image showed a creature which was deemed a 'ghost' standing on the roof of a shed which is located on the main road of the village in Kumta. 

Sources said that the photo went viral in various WhatsApp groups with a description saying that the photo was clicked by an auto driver when he was returning home late night at 1:00 am. There were two photos having said that it was clicked in two adjacent days. A second image had also surfaced which showed a girl standing across the road at night. 

As the photos spread, they created a sense of fear among students and women in the region who stopped coming out on the road not only in the dark but also during the day times. 

Currently, the residents of Alvedande village, who believed it as a fake have come out of fear, while some are still confused with the incident.
