Mangaluru: "Department will begin to dispatch new ration cards within a month", said Minister for food, civil supplies and consumer affairs U T Khader on 15th July, Saturday.

Khader stated that the process of document verification will be done soon, and the printing of new ration cards will commence within a fortnight.

He also said that as per the simplification of the document verification process, the electricity bills, details of house and vehicles need not be furnished by the applicants. Just the Aadhaar numbers, family tree and the annual income of applicants will be verified while clearing the applications.

Khader also exclaimed that out of 14.70 lakh applications for ration card which were applied online, only 90% are genuine and due to these 10% fake applicants, 90% of the BPL families will not be deprived of the benefits of government schemes.

Hence, the government has decided to print and issue ration cards to all applicants and take action against the fake ones in the later stage, Khader said.

Talking about the online ration card application process, Khader said that no other state has successfully implemented it like Karnataka.
