Mangaluru: Youth arrested by police for creating fake account on social media

Mangaluru: Acting up on a complaint received from a person alleging that his photo and name had been misused to open a Facebook account by someone, the Kankanady city police arrested the accused on 11th September, Monday.

The accused identified as Toran Lal Ravate (23 yrs), s/o Dhan singh Ravate, was residing in ward No. 9 of Pateli village, Ambagarh Chowki, Rajnandgaon district, Chattisgarh.

According to the complaint, the complainant had alleged that someone was not only impersonating him through a fake account created using his photo and name, but also uploaded several photos in bad taste apart from indecent messages.

The complaint however expressed suspicion on a person named Toran when the police inquired about it. The police inspector of Kankanady station Ravi Naik received intel that the accused was at Yeyyadi and immediately got there and arrested the accused along with some police personnel on Monday.

The accused was remanded judicial custody after being produced in the court.
