Call for speedy steps to improve edn in taluk

Mundgod: Chiding the Block Education Officer for decline in the quality of education in the taluk, MLA Shivram Hebbar said the BEO has failed to take necessary measures to improve it.

The officer will directly responsible for low result if he does not come up with progressive ideas and action taken, he added.

Addressing a progress review meeting, at Taluk Panchayat auditorium, in the town, on Tuesday, he directed the BEO to visit each school under the limits of each gram panchayat and hold meeting with school development members and teachers.

In order to improve the quality of education in the taluk, proper utilisation of government facilities is necessary, Hebbar said, asking the BEO to keep an hawks’ eye on cluster resource persons.

When senior leader H M Naik pointed out that computers provided to the school in Hungund had not been used for four years, a visibly irked Hebbar . questioned the BEO whether he would visit the schools or not.

Directing officials not to make farmers wait to get compensation over cattle deaths, he asked them to distribute seeds to farmers interested in cultivating vegetables.

Hescom meeting

Observing that Hescom contractors were acting like owners, he said, though the State government had necessary funds, contractors were claiming they had utilised their own funds.

A meeting with Hescom officials will be held next week and action taken to ensure transparency in the works being executed, he added.
