Rider killed as car rams into bike in Murdeshwar

Bhatkal: A bike rider was killed and the pillion rider injured when a car rammed into their vehicle in Murdeshwar NH 66 in Bhatkal taluk on Saturday at around 3:30 PM.

The deceased has been identified as Dev Marathe (29) while the injured has been identified as Chandra Rama Marathe (28). Both hailed from Uttara Koppa village in Bhatkal taluk.

Dev and Chandra were travelling from Uttara Koppa to Bhatkal while the swift car was coming from the opposite direction. After impact, Dev and Chandra both fell down on the national highway. Local people immediately rushed them to nearby hospital. Dev succumbed to his injuries in the hospital and Chandra is still admitted in RNS hospital where he is said to be out of danger.

It is said that Raj Shekhar a officer belongs to Zilla Panchayat office and was returning back to Dharwad driving a Swift car after providing medical treatment to his father from Manipal, when the accident occured.

Murdeshwar PSI Nagawwa paatil and his team rushed to the spot soon after the accident.

The body of Dev Marathi has been shifted to Bhatkal Govt hosopital for post mortem.

A case has been registered in Murdeshwar police station.
