Bhatkal: As expected, the Congress party has nominated the sitting independent MLA Mankal Vaidya as the Congress candidate for Bhatkal constituency on Sunday evening, while on the other side the youth personality Sunil Naik of Shirali successfully gets BJP ticket. It shall be remembered that JD(S) had earlier issued its ticket to Inayatullah Shabandari to fight elections from Bhatkal constituency. The political situation of the constituency is currently tri-coned, but the exact picture of competitors can be observed only after the filing of nominations.

The sitting MLA Mankal Vaidya was the only candidate from Bhatkal who was strong enough to receive the ticket. Two months earlier, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, while addressing a public program in Bhatkal had given a clear indications saying that Mankal would be nominated as Congress aspirant from Bhatkal constituency. It is also studied that, Mankal, from the last couple of days, is busy in solving the problems of different areas and villages to promote the number of his voters.

On the other hand, for the BJP candidate from Bhatkal, most of the people had expected former Congress MLA JD Naik would be issued a ticket as he was promised of it from BJP before joining the party. However, Sunil Naik of Shirali managed in receiving the ticket in extreme support from Union Minister Anantkumar Hegde.

It might be recalled again that JD(S) had already declared Inayatullah Shabandari as its candidate. And it is being gathered that Inayatullah has already started its campaigning from Sharavati belt of the constituency.
