'Bharath Bandh': Merchants ask for protection in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: As a part of 'Bharath Bandh' called by the Congress on Sept 10, the Old Bunder Wholesale Kirana and Allied Merchants' Association in Mangaluru has sought suitable protection to ensure that no untoward incidents take place on the day.

In a memorandum submitted to DC Sasikanth Senthil and City Police Commissioner T R Suresh, the association President Panduranga Bhandarkar said, “Gauri -Ganesha festival will be celebrated on September 12 and 13. As a result, we can not suspend our business for a day. All the association members will carry out business transactions on Monday" and appealed to the district administration and the police to provide them security.
